The Freight and Courier Services is a family-owned logistics company that was originally established in 1994. The business began with four founding members, two of whom had extensive experience in the freight and courier industry. Its first customer was Engen Petroleum in Parktown, Johannesburg, where company initially provided cheque collection services.

Within the first year of operations, the company underwent restructuring, resulting in two remaining partners who continue to serve as directors today. In 2001, the business transitioned into a private company under the name Lynx Freight and Courier Services (Pty) Ltd.
